• Billy Mitchell

Billy started running in 2000 and has been involved with Triathlon since moving to the Stirling area in 2006. Since rediscovering an active lifestyle at nearly 40 years old, Billy’s perspectives and priorities have been transformed and barriers that he perceived have disappeared. Billy has been guided and motivated on this journey by some remarkable people and aims to try to pass on this inspiration to others; the structure that Stirling Triathlon offers is a great opportunity to engage in sport for life.

Billy was previously a target rifle shooter and in a career of around 15 years represented Great Britain in Small-bore Rifle and Scotland in Small-bore Rifle and Air rifle, he was also was Scottish Senior Champion and British Universities Champion and still holds a Scottish Senior record.

Billy is keen to explore the range of opportunities that Stirling Triathlon offers, he has completed events from Sprint to Iron Man distance and was Scottish Super Veteran Champion in Cross-Triathlon in 2011. As well as an active club coaching role Billy enjoys competing himself at European and World events as part of the Great Britain age group team. He also (more frequently!) the bag holder and bike mechanic for his 3 daughters, all of whom race for the club.

Billy is a qualified UKCC Level 2 Triathlon Coach and while his main role within the club is junior run training, he also covers adult swim sessions, acted as team manager for a girls cycling team in the Youth Tour of Scotland and assists with GSB coaching delivery.
